A confident sales pitch tells you very little about whether a company can actually deliver. These questions tend to reveal more.
- Can you show me a live site you built that is similar in complexity to mine?
- What happens if I need changes after launch — is that included, or billed separately?
- How do you handle hosting, and who owns the code once the project is finished?
- What was the biggest problem on your last project, and how did you solve it?
- Will I get a dedicated point of contact, or a different person each time?
- How do you approach performance and mobile responsiveness by default?
- Do you offer ongoing support, similar to what we describe in our piece on long-term IT support?
- How do you handle scope changes mid-project?
- Can you walk me through your process, similar to how we describe ours?
- What would you push back on in my current plan?
